Real Madrid 17-year-old academy talent earns comparisons to Bernardo Silva

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Real Madrid are continuing to invest in young talents at their Valdebebas academy, with 17-year-old midfielder Marco Company attracting attention following his impressive performances this season.

The youngster has been performing well for Real Madrid's Juvenil A team, with his technical ability and playing style drawing comparisons to Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Company has made significant progress this season and has become an important member of the academy side.

He joined Real Madrid from Valencia in 2023 after attracting interest from several top Spanish clubs, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Despite interest from their rivals, he chose to continue his development at Valdebebas.

Although he made his debut for the Juvenil A team last season, the current campaign has seen him improve considerably.

Company is now the second-most-used midfielder in the squad, behind Cherif Fofana, showing how much confidence the coaching staff have in him.

His performances have also been reflected in his statistics. The 17-year-old has scored three goals and provided five assists in just 485 minutes across La Liga and the UEFA Youth League.

His ability to contribute goals and assists has made him one of the most impressive players in the team this season.

Real Madrid's Juvenil A side have also enjoyed a strong start to the campaign. They have won all four of their UEFA Youth League group-stage matches, while recording seven wins and one draw in their first eight league games.

Company has therefore been an important part of a team that has started the season in excellent form.

Interestingly, the comparisons surrounding the young midfielder have changed as he continues to develop his game.

During his earlier years, he was often compared to Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino because of his ability to make intelligent runs into the penalty area and arrive in dangerous positions.

However, those monitoring his progress at Valdebebas now believe his playing style has more similarities to Bernardo Silva and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha.

The comparison with Bernardo Silva is particularly notable because of the Manchester City midfielder's excellent technique, close ball control, creativity and intelligence on the pitch.

Silva is also known for finding spaces, keeping possession under pressure and helping his team create attacking opportunities through his movement and decision-making.

Company is showing similar qualities, although he still has a long way to go before reaching the level of established senior players like Silva in terms of experience and consistency.

Real Madrid's belief in his potential is also clear from the steps they have taken to secure his future at the club.

The Spanish giants reportedly included a €100 million release clause in his contract in February, showing how highly they rate the youngster and their desire to prevent other clubs from signing him.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid had also reportedly been interested in the midfielder before he decided to join Real Madrid in 2023.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Under-17 World Cup could give Company another opportunity to show his quality and continue his development.

The tournament is expected to affect the availability of several Juvenil A players for around a month, with some members of the squad likely to be away on international duty.

Company is expected to take on more responsibility during this period, giving him a chance to prove his importance to the team and further strengthen his reputation at the club.
