According to a post on The Super Falcons official X account on Friday, 6th November, 2026, the starting lineup for the final match in the U-17 Women's World Cup was shared.
Nigeria’s Flamingos stand one match away from history. Today they face Japan in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final in Rabat, and head coach Akeem Ishola Busari has already shown clear thinking with the team he selected.
Busari kept faith in the same players who carried the team this far. Two decisions stand out above the rest.
Retaining His Attacking Trio
First, he refused to change the attacking trio that has been on fire. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Oluebube Umejiaku and Awawu Bashiru all kept their places. These three have scored two goals each in the tournament and sit as joint top scorers for Nigeria. They were the difference against tough sides, including the strong performance that helped Nigeria past Korea earlier.
Many coaches would have rotated or rested one of them after a long campaign. Busari did the opposite. He looked at the numbers, looked at the way they link up, and decided the final is not the time to experiment. Keeping all three together keeps the team’s biggest threat intact. Japan will have to deal with the same pace, movement and finishing that has troubled every defence so far.
Stuck with players who can handle Pressure
Second, Busari stuck with the players who already proved they can handle big pressure. The win that took Nigeria into the final came from the same core group. Instead of making heavy changes or bringing in fresh legs just for the sake of it, he trusted the ones who delivered when it mattered most. That choice shows confidence. The girls know the system. They know each other’s runs. They have already beaten strong teams with this setup. Changing it now would have risked breaking the rhythm at the worst possible moment.
