Champions League Table After Manchester City Won 3-2

According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Manchester City secured an entertaining 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League after surviving a difficult encounter that saw both teams produce an exciting attacking performance.

The visitors made a positive start, controlling possession and creating several opportunities as they searched for an early breakthrough. Rayan Cherki nearly opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but his effort from inside the penalty area narrowly missed the target. Leipzig also threatened through Antonio Nusa, whose powerful attempt was brilliantly saved by Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

City eventually took the lead in the 37th minute following an unfortunate incident involving Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba. The defender accidentally diverted a dangerous delivery from the visitors into his own net, giving Manchester City a 1-0 advantage. Despite Leipzig's attempts to respond, City maintained their lead until half-time.

The hosts returned from the break with renewed determination and found an equaliser in the 49th minute. Ridle Baku produced an excellent finish from a difficult angle to make it 1-1. Leipzig continued pushing forward, but Donnarumma prevented Baku from scoring again with an important close-range save.

Manchester City restored their advantage in the 58th minute when Enzo Fernandez connected with an impressive cross from Iliman Ndiaye. The midfielder rose above the Leipzig defence and directed a powerful header into the bottom corner, leaving goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt unable to prevent the goal.

However, Leipzig responded almost immediately. Three minutes later, Christopher Nkunku delivered an excellent lofted pass into the penalty area, allowing Antonio Nusa to finish brilliantly into the bottom-right corner and bring the score to 2-2.

Both sides continued searching for another goal, with Leipzig coming particularly close when David Raum struck the crossbar with a free-kick. Cherki also rattled the woodwork as Manchester City looked to regain control.

The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute when Elliot Anderson provided an excellent assist for Erling Haaland, who calmly tapped the ball into an unguarded net to give City a 3-2 lead.

Leipzig pushed forward during the closing stages, but City remained resilient. Brajan Gruda had a goal disallowed for offside, while Donnarumma produced another important save to deny Haaland.

Manchester City ultimately held on to claim all three points, recording an important Champions League victory after an entertaining five-goal contest.
