According to a report by Football London on Saturday November 7, 2026, Arsenal have been lucky enough to have great players like Mesut Ozil, Dennis Bergkamp, and Bukayo Saka throughout the years. But Thierry Henry will go down in club history as one of the best players of all time.
In a discussion about the best left-wingers of all time, former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos paid tribute to the Frenchman once again, this time by saying that he ranks among the sport's finest.
When making his list, Kroos forgot about Henry at first, but he later added him, putting the Arsenal legend in second place, behind Ronaldinho. Kroos ranked Cristiano Ronaldo as the best footballer of all time.
He frequently started on the left side at Arsenal, and that was fantastic, Kroos said when asked about his choice. He elaborated later that he would be an ideal striker for him.
He went on to say, "I would actually put him joint-second with Ronaldinho," when asked about Henry's stellar time in north London. In light of the omission, Kroos joked that an apology was in order.
The burgundy shirt that Henry wore for Arsenal, which was memorable due to the club's gold O2 sponsor, was brought to memory by the German midfielder. He went on to say that the Frenchman was undeniably a world-class footballer who deserved to be considered one of the best of all time.
Henry's position is still up for discussion because he often played infield from the left side, but during his best years with Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, he was mainly used as their central striker.
The 4-4-2 formation was popular during that time; players like Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires played wider positions, and Henry was the one to spearhead the attack and set up his teammates for goals.
At Barcelona, his position shifted under Pep Guardiola as he played the left side of the field in a 4-3-3 formation. Even though he was most effective as a striker for Arsenal, that position might work for him in today's game.
