Champions League Table After Man Utd Won 3-2

According to a report by BBC Sport on Tuesday November 3, 2026, Manchester United secured a sensational 3-2 win over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League after producing an outstanding comeback from two goals down.

Roma started the encounter brightly and took the lead in the 11th minute through Matias Soule. Rodrigo Mora delivered an excellent ball into the attacking area, allowing Soule to beat the goalkeeper and put the visitors ahead.

The Italian club doubled their advantage in the 17th minute after Ayden Heaven was judged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area. Donyell Malen took responsibility for the spot kick and confidently sent it into the net, leaving Manchester United with a difficult task.

United attempted to respond before the interval, with Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha trying to create opportunities. However, Roma maintained their defensive discipline and prevented the home side from finding a breakthrough. Kobbie Mainoo had an opportunity to reduce the deficit, but his effort was denied by goalkeeper Devis Stiven Vasquez Llach. Soule also came close to extending Roma's lead when his attempt struck the post.

Michael Carrick's men returned for the second half with greater determination. However, Carlos Baleba suffered an injury, forcing the manager to introduce Youri Tielemans into the midfield.

Manchester United eventually reduced the deficit in the 58th minute when Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty. Although his first attempt was unsuccessful, the referee ordered a retake, and the Portuguese international made no mistake with his second opportunity.

The Red Devils continued to attack, and Bryan Mbeumo nearly brought them level in the 59th minute, but his effort came back off the left-hand post.

United finally found the equaliser in the 83rd minute. Fernandes delivered a dangerous ball into the box, which Matheus Cunha expertly converted into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-2.

The comeback was completed just three minutes later when Cunha scored his second goal of the night. The Brazilian forward received a well-timed pass from Shea Lacey before producing a composed finish inside the right post to give Manchester United a 3-2 advantage.

Cunha was subsequently sent off during stoppage time after receiving his second yellow card. Nevertheless, United managed to withstand Roma's late pressure and protect their lead until the final whistle.

The victory represents a significant boost for Manchester United's Champions League ambitions, particularly considering how difficult the contest had become after conceding twice in the opening 17 minutes.

Following this remarkable result, the Champions League standings have become an important talking point, with Manchester United hoping to improve their position as the competition progresses.
