According to a report by Daily Post on Sunday November 1, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has finally responded to reports linking him with a move to Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old Spain international has made it clear that he wants to remain at Barcelona for as long as possible, insisting that he hopes to end his playing career at the Catalan club.
Manchester United have reportedly made enquiries about the attacking midfielder as they look to strengthen their squad, but Fermin has played down the speculation surrounding his future.
Speaking after Barcelona's emphatic 6-1 victory over Alaves, the midfielder was asked about reports of interest from the Premier League giants.
“Manchester United links? I don't pay attention to that kind of news,” Fermin said.
“I want to stay here at Barcelona as long as possible. I hope to end my football career at this club and retire here.”
Fermin made the comments after producing an impressive performance against Alaves, scoring one goal and providing two assists to help Barcelona secure a convincing victory.
The Spanish midfielder was named Player of the Match for his contribution and celebrated his goal by kissing the Barcelona badge, further underlining his commitment to the club.
Fermin has become an important member of Hansi Flick's squad, with his energy, creativity and attacking contributions making him a valuable option in Barcelona's midfield.
The midfielder also signed a new contract earlier this year, which keeps him at the club until 2031.
Barcelona reportedly consider him an important part of their long-term plans and are reluctant to lose the Spanish international.
His latest comments will therefore come as a setback to Manchester United's reported interest, with the player making his desire to remain at the Nou Camp clear.
For now, Fermin appears focused on continuing his development at Barcelona rather than considering a move to the Premier League.
