Lamine Yamal Targets Mbappe's Champions League Record Ahead Of Barcelona's Clash With Aston Villa

According to a report by Sports Mole on November 1, 2026, Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal will have an opportunity to move ahead of Kylian Mbappe in the UEFA Champions League record books when his side faces Aston Villa on Tuesday. The 19-year-old could become the player with the most goals scored by a teenager in the history of the competition.

Yamal has already scored 13 Champions League goals before reaching the age of 20, putting him level with Mbappe, who previously set the record. One more goal against Aston Villa would allow the Barcelona forward to claim the record for himself and further strengthen his growing reputation in European football.

The young Spaniard goes into the match in impressive form after scoring twice in Barcelona’s 6-1 victory over Alaves in La Liga on Saturday. His performance was another reminder of the attacking quality he brings to the team and the important role he plays under manager Hansi Flick.

Yamal has become a major part of Barcelona’s attacking plans, with his pace, movement and ability to create scoring opportunities making him a constant threat to opposing defenders. His recent performance against Alaves will also give him confidence ahead of the meeting with Aston Villa.

Flick is expected to include Yamal alongside Fermin Lopez and Raphinha in his attacking setup. Rodri, who missed Barcelona’s previous Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, could also return to the starting lineup and partner Pedri in midfield.

There may also be changes in defence, with Alejandro Balde expected to feature at left-back. Gerard Martin and Pau Cubarsi are tipped to form the central defensive partnership.

Barcelona will approach the encounter looking to respond positively after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in their previous Champions League fixture. That result ended their perfect start to the competition and increased the importance of securing a positive outcome in the next match.

Aston Villa, however, will present a difficult challenge after winning their first three matches in the competition. Their strong start means Barcelona cannot afford to focus only on Yamal’s potential record.

For the teenager, the match offers an opportunity to make another mark in European football. However, Barcelona’s main priority will be to produce a strong team performance and improve their position in the Champions League campaign.
