According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday November 7, 2026, the Super Eagles have announced a 24-man squad for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania, with Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina among the notable names included.
Head coach Eric Chelle has selected three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders and six forwards for the two encounters scheduled to take place in November.
Eight players in the squad have previously featured in the English Premier League, highlighting the experience available to the Nigerian national team ahead of the important fixtures.
Apart from Lookman, Iwobi and Aina, the other players with Premier League experience are Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Wilfred Ndidi, Taiwo Awoniyi and Tolu Arokodare.
However, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is missing from the squad after undergoing knee surgery. The forward sustained the injury during his club's Champions League encounter against Stuttgart on November 3.
His absence is a significant setback for Chelle, considering his importance to the Super Eagles' attacking options. The coach will now have to rely on the other forwards selected to provide the goals against Tanzania.
One of the interesting inclusions is 19-year-old midfielder Mubarak Suleiman, who plays for Slavia Prague. He is the youngest player in the squad and has received another invitation after withdrawing from Nigeria's October friendly against Russia.
Other midfield options include Ndidi, Iwobi, Alhassan Yusuf, Tochukwu Nnadi, Samson Tijani and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
In attack, Lookman will be joined by Moses Simon, Awoniyi, Akor Adams, Arokodare and Moses Usor.
The Super Eagles will host Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13, before travelling to Zanzibar for the return fixture at the Amman Stadium four days later.
