According to Sky Sports Premier League, published on October 31, 2026, Fabian Hürzeler has maintained his unbeaten Premier League record against Manchester City after Brighton defeated the reigning title contenders 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
The victory means the Brighton manager has now recorded three wins and two draws in his five league meetings with City since taking charge of the Seagulls.
Yasin Ayari scored the decisive goal in the 11th minute after Brighton took advantage of a defensive mistake involving Manchester City defender Matheus Nunes.
City attempted to recover from the early setback but struggled to convert their chances. Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen also produced important saves to protect his team’s advantage.
The latest result continued a remarkable sequence for Hürzeler against the Manchester side. His first Premier League victory over City came in November 2024, when Brighton won 2-1.
The two teams subsequently drew 2-2 in March 2025 before Brighton claimed another 2-1 victory in August of that year. Their January 2026 meeting ended 1-1, while Saturday’s encounter produced another win for Hürzeler.
Interestingly, the latest league victory came only days after Brighton lost to City in the Carabao Cup. The teams played out a 2-2 draw on October 28 before City’s players won the penalty shootout 4-3.
That cup result did not affect Hürzeler’s unbeaten Premier League record against Pep Guardiola’s former side.
For Manchester City, the defeat represented another disappointing league result, while Brighton collected three valuable points at one of the division’s toughest grounds.
Hürzeler will now hope his players can maintain their form as they continue their Premier League campaign.
