According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday November 4, 2026, Liverpool are reportedly exploring a potential €100 million transfer for Real Madrid captain Federico Valverde, with the Premier League giants identifying the Uruguayan as a possible addition to their midfield.
According to Bernabeu Digital, Valverde has attracted Liverpool’s attention despite becoming an important member of Jose Mourinho’s plans at the Santiago Bernabeu, particularly following his deployment at right-back.
The 28-year-old’s versatility, physical strength and experience make him an attractive target for Liverpool, especially with uncertainty surrounding Alexis Mac Allister’s long-term future at Anfield.
The Argentine midfielder has also been linked with Real Madrid, potentially creating a situation where Liverpool could need an experienced replacement if they lose one of their important midfielders.
Liverpool reportedly view Valverde as someone capable of maintaining the quality, energy and intensity required in their midfield. His ability to influence matches from different positions further increases his appeal.
Despite his current defensive responsibilities under Mourinho, the Uruguayan remains highly valued for his midfield contributions. Liverpool are therefore considering an offer approaching €100 million to test Madrid’s determination to retain him.
However, the report suggests the possibility of Valverde leaving the Spanish giants remains extremely slim, with Real Madrid unwilling to negotiate the departure of their influential captain.
Mourinho’s tactical decision to establish Valverde as his preferred right-back has also attracted attention. The Portuguese manager appreciates his strength, relentless work rate and attacking contributions from defensive positions.
Although the midfielder remains capable of returning to his natural position when necessary, Mourinho currently considers him an important option at right-back this season.
Interestingly, his positional adjustment has not reduced his importance to the squad. Instead, Valverde has strengthened his position as a trusted member of the starting lineup under the Portuguese tactician.
Real Madrid consider the Uruguay international an essential figure in their sporting plans, with his leadership, versatility and consistency making him difficult to replace.
Consequently, Liverpool could face considerable difficulties convincing the Spanish club to sell, regardless of whether they present an offer worth approximately €100 million during the transfer window.
