Arsenal Missed Out on Yan Diomande as Teenager Impresses at Real Madrid

Arsenal have been told that Yan Diomande is exceeding expectations at Real Madrid following the teenage forward's impressive start to life in Spain after completing a big-money summer transfer.

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Gunners previously considered signing the Ivory Coast international before he completed a €125 million (£104 million) move from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old has quickly established himself as an exciting attacking option at the Santiago Bernabeu, recording seven goal contributions in his last eight appearances for the Spanish giants.

Diomande has particularly impressed during the absence of Vinicius Junior, who has been serving a lengthy domestic suspension. The youngster has taken advantage of the Brazilian's absence by delivering impressive performances and making important contributions in front of goal.

The Ivorian has found the net against Villarreal, Sevilla, RB Leipzig and Racing Santander, further demonstrating his attacking qualities and ability to perform at the highest level.

Diario AS journalist Carlos Forjanes believes the young forward is already producing performances that justify the significant transfer fee Real Madrid paid to secure his services.

Commenting on the teenager's performances, Forjanes wrote: "Since then, he has left his mark on seven goals, either by scoring them himself (four) or by providing the decisive assist (three)."

The journalist also highlighted Diomande's impressive dribbling statistics, revealing that he has completed 34 successful dribbles compared with Kylian Mbappe's 39, despite the French forward spending 512 more minutes on the pitch.

Forjanes further suggested that Diomande's performances have exceeded expectations, particularly considering the opportunity he received following Vinicius Junior's absence from the team.

Meanwhile, Arsenal were among several European clubs interested in strengthening their attacking options during the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta keen to add more quality and depth to his forward line.

The North London club reportedly explored a potential move for Diomande before he eventually joined Real Madrid. Arsenal also considered ambitious moves for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, Vinicius Junior and Juventus attacker Kenan Yildiz.

Although the Gunners missed out on several high-profile attacking targets, they have enjoyed an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign, winning 12 of their 15 matches across all competitions.

Arsenal also strengthened their position with an important victory over Liverpool, recording their first win at Anfield since 2012.

Arteta has now turned his attention to Wednesday's Champions League encounter against Slavia Praha, as Arsenal look to maintain their positive momentum in Europe.

On the other hand, Diomande will be hoping to continue his impressive performances when Real Madrid take on AEK Athens, with the teenager looking to establish himself further in the Spanish capital.

His rapid development and impressive contributions have attracted attention across European football, particularly among clubs that previously considered signing him.

For Arsenal, Diomande's emergence at Real Madrid could serve as a reminder of the attacking talent they missed out on during the summer, as the Ivorian continues to make a significant impression at the Santiago Bernabeu.
