WSL Table And Match Review After Man City Won 5-0

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Manchester City Women produced a dominant display against West Ham United Women, securing an emphatic victory after demonstrating their attacking quality and controlling proceedings for most of the encounter.

Manchester City started the match on the front foot, with Lauren Hemp, Mary Fowler and Khadija Shaw creating several dangerous opportunities. West Ham struggled to contain their opponents' attacking threat, although goalkeeper Constance Picaud-Inconnu made a number of important saves to prevent City from scoring early.

The visitors also had opportunities to threaten through Viviane Asseyi, Kelly Gago and Leila Wandeler, but Manchester City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita remained alert to deal with their efforts.

City eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute through Shaw, who showed excellent composure inside the penalty area before guiding the ball into the bottom corner. Her finish rewarded the home side's consistent attacking pressure and gave them a deserved lead before the interval.

West Ham attempted to respond but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in the final third. Manchester City returned for the second half with renewed intensity and extended their advantage in the 53rd minute when Shaw scored her second goal of the match with a powerful header.

Hemp provided an excellent cross for the Jamaican forward, who rose to meet the delivery and directed the ball into the net to strengthen City's grip on the contest.

The hosts continued to dictate the game and added a third goal in the 60th minute through Aoba Fujino. The Japanese attacker finished confidently into the bottom corner after Manchester City launched a dangerous counterattack.

Eight minutes later, City increased their lead further when Iman Beney found the net in the 68th minute. The midfielder made the most of Fujino's assist, producing a composed finish from outside the penalty area to put the home side firmly in control.

Shaw then completed her hat-trick in the 74th minute, firing an impressive effort into the top corner after receiving a well-timed pass from Grace Clinton. Her third goal of the afternoon took Manchester City's tally to five and capped an outstanding individual performance.

West Ham were unable to find a way back into the contest during the remaining minutes, as City comfortably maintained their advantage to secure a convincing victory.
