Ronaldo recalls Ferguson’s impact as Manchester United mark 40 years under Scotsman

Cristiano Ronaldo has reflected on the influence Sir Alex Ferguson had on his career as Manchester United mark 40 years since the Scot became the club’s manager.

Ferguson took charge at Old Trafford on 6 November 1986, with Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho among the football figures to comment on the anniversary. The Portuguese pair’s remarks were reported by The Touchline.

Ronaldo’s tribute was headlined: “This is exactly what Ferguson did with me.”

Ferguson remained Manchester United manager from 6 November 1986 until the end of the 2012-13 season. During his time with the club, he led the “Red Devils” to a host of major honours, including 13 Premier League titles and two European Cups.
