Nigeria's Flamingos are set to face Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after both teams secured victories in their respective semi-final matches in Morocco.
According to a report by ESPN on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the highly anticipated final will take place on Saturday, November 7, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm GMT, corresponding to 7:30 pm Nigerian time.
Nigeria secured their place in the final with an impressive 3-1 victory over Brazil. The Flamingos produced an outstanding second-half performance, with Queen Joseph opening the scoring in the 56th minute.
Awawu Bashiru then extended Nigeria's advantage in the 71st minute before completing her brace in the 80th minute to give the Nigerian side a comfortable 3-0 lead. Brazil managed to pull one goal back through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute, but the Flamingos held on to secure victory.
Japan, on the other hand, booked their place in the final after defeating defending champions DPR Korea in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Japan initially fell behind in the 52nd minute but managed to equalise through a late own goal in the 90+5th minute. The encounter subsequently went to penalties, where Japan emerged victorious with a 4-1 result.
The final will present Nigeria with an opportunity to win the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup for the first time in the country's history. The Flamingos previously finished third in the 2022 edition but have now reached the championship match for the first time.
Japan will equally be determined to claim the trophy after eliminating the defending champions.
Saturday's encounter will therefore determine the new champions of the competition, with Nigeria hoping to crown their impressive campaign with a historic victory over Japan.
