According to a report by Evening Standard on Friday, October 30, 2026, Chelsea have received a significant boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United after confirming that Cole Palmer is available for Saturday’s encounter at Stamford Bridge.
The England international missed Wednesday’s Carabao Cup meeting with Liverpool after receiving a red card during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Palmer’s suspension does not extend to the Premier League, as his automatic one-match ban was served during the Carabao Cup fourth-round fixture against Liverpool.
The Premier League’s official website also clarified that the midfielder would not be suspended for any league matches following his dismissal against Tottenham.
Chelsea have now confirmed that Palmer is available for selection against Manchester United, who are also struggling to find consistency under manager Michael Carrick.
The 23-year-old was spotted taking part in training at Cobham on Thursday alongside Valentin Barco and Marco Palestra, while several players who featured against Liverpool remained indoors to complete their recovery sessions.
His return means Palmer could immediately reclaim his place in Chelsea’s starting lineup when Manchester United visit Stamford Bridge, although manager Xabi Alonso is yet to confirm his team selection.
Alonso had previously disclosed that he spoke with the midfielder following his dismissal against Tottenham, making it clear that the incident was avoidable.
Speaking ahead of the Liverpool encounter, the Chelsea manager said:
“We spoke. He knows the mistake he made.
“It’s things he can avoid. Let’s hope it’s not going to be repeated. He’s mature. It was a mistake.”
Palmer also apologised to Chelsea supporters for his lack of discipline during the defeat to Tottenham.
Chelsea will be eager to benefit from his return as they attempt to recover from consecutive setbacks. The Blues suffered their first home defeat of the season against Tottenham before crashing out of the Carabao Cup against Liverpool on penalties.
Alonso will now be hoping Palmer can provide the creativity and attacking threat needed to help Chelsea secure a positive result against Manchester United.
