Worst Players For Chelsea In The First Half Against Sunderland

According to a report by Flashscore on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Chelsea had a disappointing first-half performance against Sunderland in their Premier League meeting at the Stadium of Light, with some of their key players struggling to meet expectations as they went into the break trailing 1-0.

Enzo Le Fée scored the only goal of the first half, converting a penalty in the 36th minute after Levi Colwill was involved in an incident with Brian Brobbey inside the penalty area.

One of the most disappointing Chelsea players was Levi Colwill. The defender looked shaky and uncomfortable whenever Sunderland put pressure on Chelsea's backline. His decision-making was questionable, particularly in the incident that resulted in the penalty. He also struggled to provide the defensive assurance needed to keep Sunderland's attackers under control.

Cole Palmer equally failed to produce the quality expected from him. The England international was unable to take charge of Chelsea's attacking play and struggled to create meaningful opportunities for his teammates. Sunderland's defensive organisation limited his influence, while his overall contribution in the first half was below the standard expected of a player of his quality.

Chelsea's midfield also experienced serious difficulties. Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo failed to establish the level of control required to dominate the game. Their passing was particularly disappointing, as they gave away possession too easily on several occasions. Instead of patiently building attacks, Chelsea repeatedly lost the ball and allowed Sunderland to take advantage of their mistakes.

Pedro Neto was another attacker who struggled to make a difference. He failed to consistently trouble Sunderland's defenders and could not provide the attacking threat Chelsea desperately needed. His inability to deliver dangerous crosses and create clear opportunities made the visitors' attacking efforts less effective.

Chelsea's overall performance was characterised by careless passing, poor decision-making and a lack of attacking urgency. Sunderland appeared more organised and determined, while the visitors struggled to impose their style of football.
