According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday October 24, 2026, Arsenal are reportedly preparing to challenge Barcelona for the signature of Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, with the highly-rated German forward attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window.
Barcelona have been searching for attacking reinforcements after Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres departed during the summer. Although Julian Alvarez was their primary target, Tresoldi remained among the alternatives considered by the Catalan club.
According to SPORT, Arsenal are now exploring the possibility of signing the 22-year-old in January, creating competition for Barcelona as several European clubs monitor his impressive performances in Belgium.
Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options following Viktor Gyokeres’ disappointing performances. Tresoldi has emerged as a potential solution after delivering an impressive start to the current campaign.
The German striker has scored nine goals in 12 appearances across competitions, including four in the Champions League. His performances have attracted considerable attention, particularly after scoring a memorable hat-trick against Inter Milan at San Siro.
However, securing his services could prove expensive. Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer approximately €48 million, while Club Brugge could demand as much as €60 million for their prized attacker.
The Belgian club previously rejected an offer worth around €35 million from AS Roma and remain protected by Tresoldi’s contract, which runs until 2029.
Arsenal could benefit from their existing relationship with Club Brugge following last summer’s signing of Christos Tzolis, potentially providing a useful connection during negotiations.
Barcelona, meanwhile, continue monitoring Tresoldi as they assess their long-term attacking plans under manager Hansi Flick. His movement, combination play and ability to exploit spaces inside the penalty area reportedly suit the German coach’s preferred attacking approach.
Nevertheless, Barcelona face competition beyond Arsenal, with AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also linked with the forward.
Several interested clubs could possess greater financial flexibility than Barcelona, potentially placing the Spanish side at a disadvantage if negotiations develop into a bidding contest.
Tresoldi’s increasing valuation also presents a dilemma for Barcelona, who must consider whether investing heavily in an emerging striker represents the best use of their available resources.
A transfer approaching €60 million would require considerable confidence in his ability to become a reliable goalscorer at the highest level.
Barcelona must therefore decide whether Tresoldi’s potential justifies competing financially for his signature or whether pursuing a more established striker would better serve Flick’s long-term ambitions.
