According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, on Saturday October 24, 2026, Antonio Conte has reportedly discussed the possibility of replacing Michael Carrick as Manchester United manager and outlined what he would expect from the club.

Carrick’s position has come under pressure following United’s 4–1 Champions League loss to Como. The defeat left the team with two wins from their first 11 matches in all competitions this season.

Carrick is expected to lead United against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday. However, another heavy loss could intensify calls for a change in the dugout.

According to La Repubblica, Conte is open to returning to the Premier League and has spoken with senior United figures.

The report says the Italian wants significant control over recruitment, including the freedom to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window and next summer.

No appointment has been confirmed, and Carrick remains in charge ahead of the Bournemouth match.
