Arsenal secured an important 2-1 win against Slavia Prague in their Champions League fixture on Wednesday night, with Viktor Gyokeres delivering a remarkable individual performance.
According to a report by BBC SPORT on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the Swedish international was instrumental in the Gunners' success, setting up their opening goal before scoring the second to put Mikel Arteta's men in control of the contest.
The visitors enjoyed an encouraging start and opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Noni Madueke found the net. Gyokeres played a superb long-range pass into the box, locating the winger in a dangerous position. Madueke used the space available to his advantage before calmly placing his finish into the bottom-left corner.
Gyokeres remained a constant threat to the Slavia Prague backline and almost added his name to the scoresheet four minutes later. After connecting with a cross inside the penalty area, the striker attempted a low finish towards the bottom-left corner. However, Nazar Domchak made an excellent save to prevent Arsenal from extending their lead.
The Gunners continued to dictate the game and eventually scored their second goal in the 38th minute. Mikel Merino provided the pass that allowed Gyokeres to collect the ball inside the penalty area. The striker wasted little time before attempting a finish, with his effort hitting the post and bouncing into the right side of the goal.
That goal gave Arsenal a comfortable 2-0 advantage before the interval, highlighting Gyokeres' importance to the team's attacking play. His strength, positioning, movement and ability to finish chances made him particularly difficult for the home defence to contain.
Arsenal were unable to reproduce the same level of attacking dominance in the second half, but Gyokeres had already done enough to make a significant difference. He was taken off in the 78th minute, making way for Martin Odegaard.
Slavia Prague gave themselves hope of a late comeback when Wiktor Nowak scored in the 90th minute. Nevertheless, Arsenal successfully protected their advantage until the final whistle to take home all three points.
With a goal and an assist to his name, Gyokeres was undoubtedly one of the standout performers and deservedly received Arsenal's Man of the Match award.
