According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 28, 2026, Barcelona are concerned that Raphinha could be called up by Brazil for their November friendlies against Japan and Singapore, potentially complicating his recovery from injury.
According to reports, manager Carlo Ancelotti is expected to consider the winger for the upcoming fixtures despite his ongoing efforts to regain full fitness.
The Brazilian international has struggled to return to his best level following an injury sustained against Australia on September 29 in Brisbane. Although he has returned to the pitch, Raphinha recently admitted that he is still working towards reaching peak condition.
Ancelotti is scheduled to announce his squad on Thursday. Brazil will face Japan on November 14 before taking on Singapore three days later.
The international assignments would require Raphinha to travel approximately 11,000 kilometres from Barcelona to Asia. Such a demanding journey could increase concerns about his workload while he continues rebuilding his fitness.
Barcelona would prefer the forward to remain at the club until he fully recovers. His importance to the team's attacking setup makes the possibility of another injury particularly worrying.
SPORT reports that the Catalan club could approach Ancelotti or officials of the Brazilian Football Confederation to negotiate his exclusion from the squad. However, Raphinha could still receive a call-up if no agreement is reached.
Brazil have adopted a different approach towards players competing in their domestic league. With only four rounds of the Brasileirao remaining after the international break, the federation has agreed to avoid selecting players whose clubs are involved in the title race or battling relegation.
That arrangement offers some protection to Brazilian clubs, but Barcelona have no similar guarantee regarding Raphinha.
The winger's injury record during international duty has further heightened the club's anxiety. Each of his last three Brazil call-ups has reportedly been followed by an injury.
One setback during a March international break forced him to miss five weeks, coinciding with Barcelona's Copa del Rey and Champions League eliminations against Atletico Madrid.
His injury during the 2026 World Cup and the more recent setback against Australia have intensified Barcelona's concerns. The club will hope to avoid another disruption as Raphinha works towards regaining his best form.
