NGA VS JAP: 2 Brilliant Decisions Akeem Ishola Made Ahead Of Today's U-17 Women's World Cup Final

Nigeria’s Flamingos are set to face Japan in the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Rabat, with head coach Akeem Ishola Busari maintaining confidence in the players who have guided the team to the final.

According to a post shared on the Super Falcons’ official X account on Friday, November 6, 2026, Nigeria’s starting lineup for the final was announced ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.

Busari has opted to retain the core group of players who have performed impressively throughout the competition, with two major decisions standing out in his selection.

The first is his decision to maintain the attacking partnership of Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Oluebube Umejiaku and Awawu Bashiru. The three forwards have scored two goals each in the tournament, making them Nigeria’s joint top scorers.

Their contributions have been crucial to the Flamingos’ progress, particularly in difficult encounters against strong opposition. Rather than make changes to the attacking department, Busari has chosen to keep the trio together as Nigeria prepares for the decisive match against Japan.

Another notable decision is his trust in the players who helped the team secure a place in the final. Instead of making significant changes to the starting lineup, the coach has maintained the same group that delivered when the pressure was highest.

The decision reflects his confidence in the players’ understanding of the team's playing style, their coordination and their ability to perform under pressure.

With Nigeria now just one victory away from lifting the trophy, Busari will hope his decision to maintain the team's winning combination pays off against Japan.
