€10m star ready to complete Chelsea transfer in January

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, October 23, 2026, Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez is reportedly prepared to leave the club during the January transfer window after struggling to establish himself since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

the 18-year-old Ecuador international is keen to secure a move away after his development stalled following his €10 million transfer from Independiente del Valle in 2025.

Paez is yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea and currently features in the club's Under-21 squad, with manager Xabi Alonso indicating that the attacking midfielder is not part of his immediate plans.

The youngster endured a difficult loan spell at Strasbourg during the first half of last season, making 21 appearances across all competitions before Chelsea recalled him in January.

He subsequently joined Argentine giants River Plate on another temporary deal, but that move also proved unsuccessful, with the club ending his loan spell in August.

Since returning to England, Paez has remained outside Chelsea's senior setup, raising further questions about his long-term future at the club.

Alonso made his position clear when discussing the teenager's situation in September.

"At the moment, he's not part of the first-team squad," the Chelsea manager told reporters.

When asked whether that situation could change later in the campaign, the Spaniard reportedly responded: "No, no, he's not part of the plans."

According to transfer reporter Nicolo Schira, Paez is now seeking an exit in January as he looks for an opportunity to revive his career.

Several clubs have emerged as potential destinations for the Ecuadorian, although no agreement has been confirmed.

Data analytics specialists SciSports identify Spanish side Getafe as a suitable destination for the youngster. Newcastle United also feature among the potential options, receiving a Club Fit Score of 80.

Italian clubs Bologna and Lazio, alongside Portuguese giants Porto, are also considered possible destinations.

A move away from England could offer Paez a fresh opportunity to gain regular first-team football and rebuild his confidence after two difficult loan spells.

However, Chelsea must decide whether to sanction a permanent departure or arrange another loan deal to help the teenager develop.
