Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare has reached 100 career goals after scoring in Ajax’s 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
Arokodare, who came on in the 66th minute, scored in the 87th minute after controlling a long pass and finishing past the Atalanta goalkeeper to register his landmark goal.
The Nigerian striker celebrated the milestone on social media, thanking God and those who have supported him throughout his career.
“100 career goals. Grateful for this journey and the path God has paved for me. He is thankful to God and everyone along the way for getting him here. The journey continues. God is the greatest,” he wrote.
His career tally includes 22 goals for Latvian side Valmiera, 21 during his loan spell at French club Amiens, 41 for Belgian side Genk, six for Wolverhampton Wanderers, eight for Ajax and two for Nigeria, totalling 100 goals.
The result also ended Ajax’s eight-match winless run against Italian opposition and gave the club a response after their opening defeat to Hajduk Split in the Conference League.
