Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has expressed his desire to turn his loan spell at Ajax into a permanent transfer following an inspiring performance in the UEFA Conference League.
The Nigerian striker proved to be the ultimate game-changer after coming off the bench in the 66th minute against Atalanta at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Arokodare broke the deadlock in the 87th minute before turning provider in stoppage time, setting up Abdellah Ouazane for a 93rd-minute sealer in a dramatic victory. The win delivered Ajax their first Conference League points of the campaign following an opening matchday loss to Hajduk Split.
Speaking to LiveScore after his heroics, the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee admitted he is thoroughly enjoying life in Amsterdam, though he left his future in the hands of both clubs.
“That’s between Ajax and Wolves; I can’t say anything about it. Tell that to Ajax,” Arokodare joked when asked about a potential permanent deal. “And maybe increase my salary.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding contract negotiations, the forward made no secret of his affection for the Dutch giants.
“Of course I’m open to it. I love it here. I’ve felt love here from day one.”
