Spoils were shared at Edwin Imboela Stadium as ZESCO United closed the month of October with nine points following a scoreless draw against Nkwazi.
Once again, Nkwazi proved to be a tricky opponent for ZESCO, holding the visitors to a draw, just as they did when the two sides met at the same venue last season, when the match ended 1-1.
ZESCO created several opportunities in the first half, with the closest coming in the 10th minute when Rally Bwalya’s dipping free kick was tipped over the bar by Nkwazi goalkeeper Bradley Mweene. Earlier, the hosts had threatened on goal, but Chilufya Katongo’s goal-bound effort was blocked by Gift Mphande.
Coach Mwenya Chipepo made a number of changes as the game progressed, bringing on Yves Allarabaye for Elvis Addae, while Samson Ngoma replaced Luka Mutoshi. Kelvin Kampamba also came on for Abraham Siankombo, with Andrew Mulenga replacing Gilbert Tentani.
The draw takes ZESCO United to nine points, two behind Stream B leaders Green Eagles. The team will now turn its attention to the next assignment against Green Buffaloes.
