Reigning Premier League champions Arsenal remain at the top of the table following their recent run of impressive performances, with Mikel Arteta’s side continuing their pursuit of another league title.
According to Reuters, Arsenal moved three points clear of Manchester City after securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on November 1. The result strengthened the Gunners’ position at the summit of the Premier League standings.
Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal in the 16th minute, finishing a low cross from Declan Rice after Liverpool were caught attempting to play out from the back. Arsenal subsequently defended resolutely to preserve their advantage.
The victory marked Arsenal’s first league win at Anfield in 14 years. The reigning champions collected 24 points from their opening nine league matches, recording eight victories and one defeat, according to Reuters.
Manchester City, meanwhile, suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side three points behind Arsenal with 21 points from nine matches. Brighton occupied third place with 19 points.
Arsenal’s strong start to the campaign has placed them among the early favourites to retain the Premier League crown. However, the season remains in its early stages, with several challenging fixtures still ahead.
The Gunners were scheduled to host Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on November 7, seeking to maintain their position at the top of the standings. Manchester City were also scheduled to face Nottingham Forest later that day.
As the competition progresses, the results of both sides will determine whether Arsenal can extend their advantage and strengthen their title defence.
