President William Ruto is reportedly planning to bring English Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal to Nairobi in July 2027 for a high-profile football match, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed.
According to Murkomen, the President intends to bring the two globally recognised football clubs to Kenya, potentially giving local football fans an opportunity to watch some of the world's biggest football brands compete on Kenyan soil.
The announcement has generated excitement among football enthusiasts, particularly supporters of Manchester United and Arsenal, who have long wished to see their favourite teams play in Kenya.
If the proposed match materialises, it would be a major sporting event for the country, attracting international attention and potentially drawing thousands of local and foreign supporters to Nairobi.
The visit could also provide significant opportunities for Kenya's tourism, hospitality and entertainment industries, with hotels, restaurants and other businesses likely to benefit from the arrival of international football fans.
However, details surrounding the proposed fixture, including the venue, participating players, ticket prices and official confirmation from the two clubs, are yet to be announced.
The potential Manchester United versus Arsenal showdown would be particularly significant given the fierce rivalry between the two English football giants.
Kenyans will now be waiting to see whether President Ruto's reported plan becomes reality in July 2027.
