Arsenal have reportedly drawn up a comprehensive five-man succession plan to replace Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland topping the power rankings as the club's ultimate transfer objective.

Despite arriving in North London with sky-high expectations following a prolific spell at Sporting CP, Gyökeres has struggled to cement a permanent starting spot in Mikel Arteta’s tactical framework, sparking widespread speculation regarding his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

The reveal of Arsenal’s potential target list highlights a clear desire from decision-makers to secure a world-class focal point who perfectly embodies Arteta’s high-intensity requirements.

Occupying the No. 1 position on the shortlist is Haaland, whose historic goalscoring record in the Premier League makes him every manager's dream target.

With off-field uncertainty surrounding Manchester City’s regulatory situation, Arsenal executives are closely monitoring developments to determine if an unprecedented move could become viable.

Beyond the Norwegian goal machine, the scouting report identifies alternative options across European football who fit the physical and technical profile desired by the Gunners.

Everton’s hard-working forward Thierno Barry features prominently on the radar due to his exceptional work rate and physical ceiling, while Brentford's Igor Thiago and Napoli's Rasmus Højlund have also been evaluated by recruitment specialists.

Furthermore, long-term admiration remains for Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, though a potential deal faces significant financial and structural hurdles.

As the transfer window draws closer, Arsenal’s ambitious positioning confirms that the hierarchy is unwilling to settle for second best in their continuous pursuit of silverware.

Replacing Gyökeres with a marquee, elite-level striker would send a massive statement of intent across European football, reinforcing the Gunners' determination to maintain their status at the peak of the game.
