Bournemouth climbed to third place in the UEFA Europa League standings after defeating AC Milan 3-0 at Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries took full advantage of Mike Maignan’s first-half dismissal, scoring twice from the penalty spot before Amine Adli sealed the victory with a late free-kick.
Milan, meanwhile, finished the match without registering a shot on target and slipped to 24th in the 36-team standings.
Justin Kluivert opened the scoring after Bournemouth were awarded an early penalty.
Evanilson’s header struck defender Koni de Winter’s arm, prompting a VAR review before referee Vasilis Fotias pointed to the spot.
Kluivert converted, sending Maignan the wrong way.
Bournemouth continued to threaten as Ben Gannon-Doak and Antonio Silva also tested the Italian side’s defence.
Milan’s hopes of recovering suffered a major setback in the 27th minute when Maignan was sent off for pushing Tyler Adams in the face.
The dismissal left the visitors with 10 men, and Bournemouth quickly increased their advantage.
Marcus Tavernier converted the resulting penalty, beating substitute goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani to put the hosts firmly in control before the break.
Milan struggled to respond after the interval, while Bournemouth continued to create opportunities.
Adli, introduced from the bench, delivered the decisive moment by curling a free-kick from around 20 yards into the near post less than seven minutes after coming on.
Rayan threatened to add a fourth, but Bournemouth were already assured of an emphatic victory.
The result strengthens Bournemouth’s position near the top of the Europa League table, while Milan must recover quickly after a difficult evening on the south coast.
