Gor Mahia will be looking to bounce back to their winning ways in the 2026/27 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season when they take on Nairobi United on Sunday, November 8, 2026, with the two sides heading into the encounter at opposite ends of the table.

Ahead of the encounter at Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, Gor Mahia sit second in the standings after five matches, having collected a strong run of results that has seen them win all five of their games. Nairobi United, meanwhile, occupy 14th position and are yet to find their rhythm, with their recent form reading one draw followed by three defeats.

The contrasting form makes Gor the favourites on paper, but Nairobi United will be hoping to produce a response and upset the established order.

Gor Mahia have scored eight goals in their opening five matches and conceded four, while keeping three clean sheets. Nairobi United have found the net six times but have allowed seven goals and managed only one clean sheet.

The statistics also point to a more dominant attacking profile from Nairobi United in several areas despite their lower position.

They average 16.8 shot attempts per 90 minutes compared with Gor’s 13.2. United also complete 330 passes per 90, against Gor’s 257, while creating 8.2 chances per match compared with Gor’s 6.8.

Nairobi United have also registered more cross attempts, averaging 19 per 90 minutes compared with Gor’s 13, and win more corners, with an average of 5.8 against Gor’s 4.2.

Gor Mahia, however, have the better shot accuracy at 27 per cent compared with United’s 21 per cent, while their progressive passing efficiency stands at 34 per cent against Nairobi United’s 29 per cent.

Another interesting statistic could prove crucial in the contest. Gor Mahia have won all four matches in which they scored first this season, underlining the importance of the opening goal.

Nairobi United, on the other hand, have been particularly dangerous from dead-ball situations. They have created nine chances from free kicks, the highest number in the FKF Premier League this season.

Onyango key to Gor’s attacking threat

Alpha Onyango will be one of the players to watch for Gor Mahia after making a significant contribution to their campaign.

The midfielder has played five matches and scored four goals, making him the club’s leading scorer in the SportPesa League so far. He has also attempted 11 shots and created five chances.

His defensive contribution has been equally notable, with the midfielder recording 18 interceptions.

Nairobi United will look to Mark Kithome for inspiration at the other end.

Kithome has featured in four matches and scored twice, while also providing one assist. He has attempted eight shots and won five second balls.

The midfielder has been directly involved in three of Nairobi United’s six league goals this season, making him an important outlet for a side seeking to turn its fortunes around.

With the league leaders chasing another victory and Nairobi United desperate to climb away from the bottom half, the encounter promises an intriguing battle between a side high on confidence and another searching for a turning point.
