Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has launched a second scathing attack on the club’s culture, declaring that the squad must stop living off historical success and confront their current crisis head-on.

“We’re No Longer the Same”: Fernandes Delivers Second Explosive Interview on United Crisis

The Portuguese midfielder’s explosive comments came in the wake of United’s humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat against Como in northern Italy.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Fernandes delivered a brutal assessment of the club’s mentality.

“Everyone at the club must understand that it’s no longer the same,” he stated.

“We focus too much on what was achieved in the past, but we are no longer the same. The club and the players must understand this.”

The 32-year-old, who speaks fluent Italian from his earlier spells with Novara, Sampdoria, and Udinese, reportedly had his interview conducted in English after United officials intervened.

Despite this, Fernandes continued his candid criticism, describing the current situation as dire.

“It’s a very difficult moment for us, we’re not getting the points and results we want.

Unfortunately, it’s one of those moments where it seems like we can’t get out of it.”

This latest outburst follows Fernandes’s initial post-match interview in which he openly questioned manager Michael Carrick’s tactical setup, specifically criticising the lack of man-to-man pressing.

Pundit Jamie Carragher branded those comments “an absolute disgrace,” while Carrick publicly dismissed his captain’s tactical assessment.

Despite the highly public nature of Fernandes’s complaints, the Old Trafford hierarchy has reportedly decided against stripping him of the armband, accepting that emotions were running high. However, private disappointment remains within the club.

United’s dismal form just two victories this season against Ipswich and European minnows Sabah has intensified pressure on Carrick.

The board is not preparing an immediate sacking, but director of recruitment Christopher Vivell is reportedly pushing for Julian Nagelsmann to take over should results fail to improve.

United host Bournemouth on Sunday before facing Chelsea the following weekend.
