Lavia Did So Many Things Right, He's Taken Many Right Decisions, He Was Dynamic, Competitive –Alonso

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has praised Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia following an impressive display, highlighting his intelligence, energy and ability to make good decisions in the middle of the pitch.

According to a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on Friday, October 31, 2026, Alonso was particularly pleased with how the Belgian handled his midfield duties during the match. Lavia showed strong awareness, remained competitive and made important contributions throughout the encounter.

Speaking from his experience as a former midfielder, Alonso gave the Chelsea player an outstanding assessment, describing his performance as one that stood out in several areas.

"From a midfielder's point of view, it has been a top, top, top performance," Alonso said.

The Spanish manager also pointed to Lavia's ability to make sensible choices during different stages of the game. He was impressed by the midfielder's movement, determination and understanding of what was required in his position.

"Lavia did so many things right. He's taken many right decisions. He was dynamic, competitive," he added.

Alonso's comments reflect the qualities Lavia brings to Chelsea's midfield. The Belgian's performance showed how important it is for a central midfielder to combine technical ability with good judgement and tactical awareness.

Players in that position are expected to contribute both defensively and offensively. They must know when to keep possession, move the ball forward, support their teammates and help the team deal with pressure from opponents. Lavia's display suggested that he handled these responsibilities effectively.

His movement and willingness to compete for the ball also helped him remain involved in different phases of the match. These qualities attracted the attention of Alonso, who recognised the midfielder's contribution despite managing a different club.

The praise from the experienced Spaniard provides further recognition of Lavia's abilities and the progress he is making as a Chelsea player. Positive assessments from respected figures in football can also highlight the value of performances that might otherwise receive less attention.

For Chelsea, Lavia's continued development could be important as the club looks to maintain strength and balance in midfield. The Belgian will now be focused on building on this performance, maintaining his consistency and securing a more established role in the team.
