According to a report by BBC Sport on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Matheus Cunha delivered an outstanding performance to help Manchester United secure a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over AS Roma after falling two goals behind.
The Brazilian forward played a decisive role in United's recovery, scoring twice in the closing stages to complete an impressive turnaround at Old Trafford.
Manchester United struggled in the first half as Roma dominated proceedings and established a two-goal advantage. Matias Soule opened the scoring in the 11th minute with an excellent finish after receiving a superb pass from Rodrigo Mora.
The visitors extended their lead six minutes later when Donyell Malen converted a penalty, leaving United with a difficult challenge before the interval.
Cunha remained determined to help his side recover after the disappointing first-half display, continuing to push forward and search for opportunities to trouble Roma's defence after the restart.
United eventually pulled one goal back in the 58th minute when Bruno Fernandes successfully converted a retaken penalty. However, Cunha's contribution in the closing stages completely changed the direction of the match.
The Brazilian equalised in the 83rd minute after connecting with an accurate cross from Fernandes inside the penalty area. He showed excellent positioning and composure to guide the ball into the bottom-right corner, bringing United back into the contest.
Just three minutes later, Cunha scored again to complete the comeback. This time, Shea Lacey delivered an excellent pass into the box, allowing the forward to produce a precise finish inside the right post and put Manchester United ahead.
His two quick goals turned a difficult evening into a memorable victory for the Red Devils. Although Cunha was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in stoppage time, his decisive contribution had already made him the standout player of the encounter.
The Brazilian was deservedly named Man of the Match after scoring the goals that inspired Manchester United's remarkable 3-2 victory over Roma.
