According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Chelsea’s recent defeat has raised concerns about the club’s attacking options, prompting speculation that the Blues could strengthen their forward line by pursuing Club Brugge striker Nicolas Tresoldi, who has been in impressive form for the Belgian side.
Chelsea are expected to be without Brazilian forward João Pedro for Saturday’s match after he sustained a knee injury during training. Although Danny Welbeck was available, manager Antonio Conte surprised observers by deploying Morgan Rogers as the central striker. However, the decision failed to produce the desired results and reportedly raised further questions about the team’s attacking options under Xabi Alonso. With Emmanuel Emegha yet to make his debut for the club, Chelsea could consider bringing in another striker.
Reports suggest that Chelsea scouts have been monitoring Tresoldi, a German Under-21 international who has enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Club Brugge. The 21-year-old has made 14 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 12 goals.
His impressive performances reportedly include a hat-trick against Inter Milan and another treble during Club Brugge’s 3-2 victory over Sint-Truiden, further attracting attention to his growing reputation.
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has also spoken positively about Tresoldi’s potential at international level. According to reports, Klopp told Yahoo Sport that although the forward possesses “world-class talent,” he should not face pressure when deciding which country to represent.
Klopp explained that Germany wanted to provide the young striker with the freedom and support necessary to make the right decision about his international future. He also noted that Tresoldi still had sufficient time to consider his options. Despite representing Germany’s Under-21 team 27 times, the forward remains eligible to play for Italy or Argentina at senior international level.
Standing at six feet and one inch, Tresoldi offers a different attacking profile from João Pedro. The Club Brugge forward is a traditional centre-forward who uses his physical strength to challenge defenders, hold up possession and make runs behind opposing defensive lines.
Unlike Pedro, who sometimes drops deeper to participate in build-up play, Tresoldi prefers to operate close to the opposition’s defensive line and exploit scoring opportunities inside the penalty area. Notably, 92.3 per cent of his shots have come from inside the box, highlighting his preference for positions where he can threaten goal directly.
His ability to identify opportunities in the penalty area could provide Chelsea with an additional attacking option, particularly if he can make an immediate impact when introduced as a substitute during the closing stages of matches.
Although João Pedro would likely remain Chelsea’s first-choice striker, signing Tresoldi could increase competition within the squad and provide Alonso with greater flexibility in attack. His arrival could also help address the gap between Pedro and the club’s other available forwards, giving Chelsea another potential source of goals when chasing results.
