Cole Palmer Names Chelsea’s ‘Best Player on The Pitch’ in Man Utd Win

According to a report by Meteo on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has received special praise from teammate Cole Palmer following his impressive performance in the Blues' 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer identified the biggest Belgian midfielder as Chelsea's standout performer, expressing his admiration for the 22 year old after an impressive display that helped the hosts secure all three points.

Chelsea found it difficult to break down Manchester United during the opening stages of the encounter. However, Morgan Rogers eventually opened the scoring before Palmer converted a penalty to seal the victory.

Manchester United also suffered a major setback when Lisandro Martinez was sent off following a VAR review after striking Wesley Fofana with his forearm, leaving the visitors with ten players.

While the goals attracted much of the attention, Lavia delivered an outstanding performance in midfield alongside Moises Caicedo. He controlled the tempo, linked Chelsea's defensive and attacking movements and demonstrated the technical quality that has often been overshadowed by his injury problems since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Palmer praised his teammate's contribution, saying: "Today was one of the best games I've seen him play."

The England international also emphasised that many supporters have yet to recognise the midfielder's true ability.

"People still don't realise how good he is," Palmer added.

The Chelsea forward acknowledged Lavia's difficult injury history but expressed hope that he could overcome those setbacks and maintain his impressive performances throughout the season.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso also praised the midfielder, describing his contribution as an exceptional performance. The Spanish tactician highlighted Lavia's intelligence, energy, competitiveness and ability to connect the defensive and attacking departments.

Alonso explained that the midfielder had been performing well in recent weeks and deserved recognition for his latest display.

Meanwhile, Palmer also discussed teenage winger Estevao, who made his first Premier League start for Chelsea this season. The England international revealed that he deliberately tried to get the youngster involved by supplying him with the ball and allowing him to demonstrate his attacking qualities.

Alonso also praised Estevao's attitude and determination, particularly after being left out of the starting lineup during Chelsea's Carabao Cup penalty-shootout defeat against Liverpool.

The manager believes the teenager's encouraging performance against Manchester United has strengthened his case for more opportunities in the first team.
