UCL: Lamine Yamal makes history after breaking Kylian Mbappé record

According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has broken a Champions League record previously held by Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé after becoming the teenager with the most goals in the competition’s history.

The 19-year-old reached the milestone during Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Spotify Camp Nou on Tuesday night.

Yamal opened the scoring in the seventh minute after taking advantage of a defensive mistake by the English side. The Spanish international curled the ball past goalkeeper Zion Suzuki to put Barcelona ahead.

His goal took his Champions League tally to 14, moving him beyond Mbappé’s previous teenage record of 13 goals.

Yamal has achieved the feat in just 37 appearances in Europe’s biggest club competition, highlighting his rapid progress since establishing himself in Barcelona’s first team.

Although Mbappé remains one of the Champions League’s most prolific scorers, with 72 goals in the competition overall, the Real Madrid forward has now lost his teenage goalscoring record to the Barcelona youngster.

Yamal has continued to establish himself as one of the brightest young talents in European football, adding another major achievement to his growing list of records.

The Spain international also holds the record for being the youngest player to start a match in the Champions League proper.

He set that record when he made his full European debut against FC Porto at the age of 16 years and 83 days.

Yamal’s latest achievement comes shortly after he finished third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or voting. Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane claimed the prestigious award, while Mbappé finished second ahead of the Barcelona winger.

Despite missing out on the individual honour, Yamal has continued to impress with his performances for Barcelona this season.

According to the report, he has registered 13 goals and 11 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions this season.

His contribution against Aston Villa further demonstrated his importance to Barcelona as they continue their Champions League campaign.

Overtaking Mbappé’s teenage record also adds another dimension to the growing rivalry between the two players, who are among the leading attacking talents in European football.

While the Real Madrid forward has built an impressive Champions League goalscoring record over several seasons, Yamal’s latest milestone shows how quickly he is making his mark on the competition.

At just 19, the Barcelona winger has already surpassed a record previously held by Mbappé and will now look to increase his tally in the remaining Champions League fixtures.
