The Football Association has distributed GH¢100,000 to each of the 20 clubs competing in the Gold Fields Women’s Premier League, providing financial support as the 2026/27 season gets under way.
The payments, made on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, total GH¢2 million and deliver on the annual commitment made by Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to strengthen the finances of women’s football clubs in Ghana.
The funding is intended to support the clubs’ operations and contribute to the continued development of the women’s game.
The Football Association will also cover the fees for referees and Match Commissioners for the entire season. The arrangement is designed to reduce the costs faced by participating clubs and support the efficient organisation and administration of league fixtures.
Each club will receive further practical assistance through a supply of 30 pairs of football boots. The equipment is intended to improve player welfare and support training and match-day requirements.
The wider package includes fuel support from GOIL, helping clubs meet the travel demands of the campaign, as well as souvenirs from Melcom.
The assistance has been delivered as all 20 clubs begin their 2026/27 campaign with the financial and logistical backing promised by the Football Association.
The support forms part of President Simeon-Okraku’s stated commitment to the development and long-term growth of women’s football in Ghana.
