Paris FC secured a 3-1 victory against AS Monaco at Stade Jean-Bouin, while Olympique Lyonnais defeated Angers 2-0 at Groupama Stadium during the ninth round of Ligue 1 matches. The results reshaped the upper tier of the French domestic table, moving both winning clubs into prime position as the autumn schedule intensifies.
Paris FC maintained their unbeaten home record this season by dismantling AS Monaco 3-1 on home turf, powered largely by an exceptional performance from Lassine Sinayoko. Sinayoko opened the scoring in the 38th minute, finishing off a buildup initiated by Ilan Kebbal and Maxime Lopez. Right before halftime, he collected a through ball, beat defender Eric Dier, and struck a low shot past goalkeeper Lukáš Hradecký to double the lead.
Monaco replied in the 65th minute through a close-range finish from substitute Folarin Balogun, offering brief hope to the visitors. However, Sinayoko carved open the Monaco defense once more in the 74th minute, setting up Pagis for Paris FC’s third goal. The home side had already struck the goalposts twice before breaking through. With eight goals to his name, Sinayoko currently sits at the top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts.
Following the defeat, Lukáš Hradecký offered a blunt assessment of his team’s performance. “Nous n’avons pas mis tous les fondamentaux nécessaires,” Hradecký told reporters in the mixed zone, noting that Paris FC won the duels across the pitch. The goalkeeper acknowledged growing concern within the squad after a winless run in the league following the international break.
Olympique Lyonnais ended a difficult October run by taking care of business against Angers with a 2-0 scoreline, securing three points that lift them into third place in the standings. Ernest Nuamah drove the Lyon attack from the opening whistle, keeping the visitor’s defense under constant pressure at Groupama Stadium. Ernest Nuamah broke the deadlock just before halftime with a well-taken goal.
Midfielder Corentin Tolisso, who assisted on the opening goal, added a second late in the contest to secure the result and keep Angers anchored near the bottom of the table. Manager Paulo Fonseca appeared visibly emotional at the full-time whistle, shedding tears as he thanked his players amid ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Sporting Portugal. The win puts Lyon on 17 points, level with the Paris FC but holding third place due to goal difference.
Strasbourg decisively ended a four-match losing skid by overwhelming Auxerre 5-1 in a lopsided fixture that breathed new life into their campaign. Gessime Yassine starred for the Alsatians by scoring a late brace to punctuate the dominant performance. The victory moves Strasbourg up to 12th place with 10 points, while Auxerre remains 13th after failing to cope with the hosts’ attacking pressure.
Monaco’s defeat leaves them searching for answers ahead of their upcoming fixtures, while Angers continues to struggle in 15th position.
Monaco turns its attention to continental play with a UEFA Conference League fixture against Nordsjaelland on Thursday, followed by a league match against Le Mans on Sunday. Paris FC prepares to defend their strong league standing, while Lyon evaluates its squad stability following a much-needed return to the win column.
