Bibiani Gold Stars coach Petros Koukouras has expressed disappointment over the penalty decision that led to his side’s 1-0 defeat to Samartex in matchweek nine of the Ghana Premier League.
Christian Agyenim Boateng scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 26th minute to hand Samartex all three points.
Speaking after the game, Koukouras questioned the referee’s decision, insisting that the contact leading to the penalty occurred outside the penalty area.
"First of all, I want to congratulate Samartex. I think both teams they had a very good game especially in the second half, it was a very high tempo game. Both teams we created chances it is very unfortunate that in the first half on a very doubtful penalty Samartex won the game like this. The ball was inside but the contact of the player was outside the box I have seen it in the video again but we have to move on. We to correct our mistakes, and we have to try harder next time once again, I want to say congratulations to Samartex," he told Gold Stars TV.
The defeat leaves Bibiani Gold Stars 15th on the league table with 10 points after nine matches.
Koukouras' side will look to bounce back when they face Aduana Stars in their next league fixture on November 8.
