Ghanaian midfielder Prince Ampem continued his impressive scoring form in the AFC Champions League Elite despite Shanghai Port suffering a 3-2 defeat to Vietnamese side Công An Hà Nội on Tuesday.
Ampem found the net in the 44th minute at Pudong Football Stadium, briefly giving Shanghai Port hope of securing a positive result in the third round of the competition.
The visitors had taken the lead through Brayan Perea in the 35th minute, but Ampem restored parity just before half-time to bring the hosts back into the contest.
However, Công An Hà Nội regained the advantage shortly after the restart when Leo Arthur scored in the 49th minute. Miguel Campos scored Port's second goal in the 60th minute. Perea then completed his brace in the 69th minute to put the Vietnamese side firmly in control.
Shanghai Port attempted to fight back, but they were unable to find another equaliser before the final whistle.
Ampem has now scored five goals in three appearances in the AFC Champions League Elite this season, highlighting his importance to Shanghai Port's attacking threat.
Shanghai Port will next face Australia's Newcastle Jets in the continental competition on November 4, looking to bounce back from the defeat.
