Brentford boss Keith Andrews said that his side would need to “bring our A game” to get a result against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex tomorrow (Sunday 8 November).
Andrews praised Brighton’s form while Albion head coach Fabian Hürzeler is looking forward to playing at home again after five away matches on the trot.
The last time the Seagulls played at home they beat Crystal Palace 5-0 but Brentford pose a sterner test, having conceded just nine goals in nine Premier League games this season.
With another international break looming, Hürzeler said: “For me, it is the most important thing that we play in front of our fans.
“I can’t wait to have another very energetic atmosphere when we enter the stadium, with supporters us behind us and a loud atmosphere.
“Hopefully we can beat Brentford at home. This will be the next challenge and then we have a few days off where we can stay but, for now, we are fully focused on Brentford.”
Despite Brighton’s fine form in both Europe and the Premier League, sitting third with 19 points from nine matches, Hürzeler expects a stern test from the visitors who have climbed to sixth.
Hürzeler said: “They are good in every phase of the game – they are good in the set piece, good in possession, good out of possession – so I think it is a really tough opponent.
“You see it in the table where they are – and they are there because of reason, so therefore we have to be ready for them.”
Andrews has warned his side that they will need to be at their best at the Amex tomorrow. He said: “They’re playing really, really well. The way they’re organised in every facet of the game is very impressive.
“They’ve clearly got really good spirit. They’ve recruited well. They’ve got an honesty around the group and they’re clearly playing with a lot of confidence.
“We’ll need to bring our A game on Sunday to get the result that we want.
“You have to be very understanding of what they’re capable of, what they’re doing consistently, how they can tweak, what they tweak and when they tweak it.
“We’re quite flexible and adaptable ourselves in terms of what we do and how we can do it. We’ve got the tools to cause them problems. We’ve got the tools to cause any team problems but we’ll need to play very well.”
Kick-off is at 2pm.
