Former Denver Broncos quarterback and current CBS analyst Russell Wilson has made his way back to the Mile High City, this time as an announcer.
Wilson, who played for the Broncos from 2022-23, had a messy divorce from the team. Wilson was benched with two games left in the 2023 season before being unceremoniously released with the then-largest dead cap hit in NFL history during the 2024 offseason.
In his return to Denver as a member of The NFL Today on CBS, Wilson gave his prediction for the late game on Sunday, when the Broncos take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile High.
"Guys, is it a 'Let's Ride' moment or not?" Wilson asked his fellow analysts. "Got the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, Super Bowl champion; but nobody can catch the ball! And I got the Denver Broncos; struggled on offense, but my guy Bo Nix stepped up in a big way; and listen, he's got some explosive plays! 62-yard touchdown. So I'm riding with the Broncos! Sean Payton, you may like me, you may not, but I'm picking you!"
Coincidentally, Payton joined CBS for a pregame interview with Hall of Fame coach Bill Cowher on what the Broncos need to do to win on Sunday.
"It needs to be the antithesis of Week 1," Payton said.
