John Daly has announced a multi-year partnership with Topgolf to host his Masters pop-up shop after the Augusta Hooters location was demolished. Daly had become known for spending Masters week outside the Hooters restaurant in Augusta selling merchandise and memorabilia.

The 1995 Masters champion started the tradition in 1997, and in 2024 he raked a huge £600K ($780,000) according to ESPN. But Daly was forced to move location for this year’s tournament after Hooters filed for bankruptcy, and the restaurant closed.

The one-time Open Championship winner instead set up shop at Top Dawg restaurant and Topgolf Augusta.

And with next year in mind, Daly confirmed: “I love the vibe at Topgolf. It’s a place where you can smash a golf ball, listen to music, have a drink and enjoy yourself with friends and family. That’s my kind of golf.”

The company will also introduce two ready-to-drink, non-carbonated cocktails carrying Daly's name at 55 Topgolf venues, while exclusive 'Daly Vibe' merchandise will also be available.

And Topgolf CEO David McKillips said: “John Daly is a one-of-a-kind icon who completely disrupted this sport by refusing to be anyone but himself.

“At Topgolf, we pride ourselves on breaking down barriers so anyone can play, which is exactly what makes this partnership so natural and exciting. John brings the fun, and fun is what Topgolf is all about.”

In a message to supporters ahead of this year's Masters, two-time major champion Daly has not played in the Masters since 2006, said: "This week has always been about the fans as much as the golf, and I've spent a lot of great nights hanging out with them over the years.

"This time we're bringing that energy to Topgolf, where people can grab a drink, take some swings, and just have a good time together. I'm looking forward to kicking back, meeting some folks, and keeping the party going after the rounds."

Earlier this year, Rory McIlroy, 36, joined golfing greats Jack Nicklaus, Sir Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods in successfully defending his title at Augusta National.

And Padraig Harrington, who won back-to-back Open titles from 2007 and also went on to claim the 2008 PGA Championship, believes the Northern Irishman has both the game and the mental strength needed to win up to 10 Masters titles.

He said: “As regards to Masters, Rory could win 10 of them at this stage, or five of them anyway. He probably will still be competitive at 50 years of age around that golf course.

“For him, it was interesting that he won that one with his short game, which makes him even better a player.

“Over the years it is physicality to driving and the iron play. He has always been a superb chipper, but now it is with the putting and things like that.

“A very rounded game and a game that looks like it has a lot of longevity in it, so he is in a very nice place going forward, particularly at that tournament.

“It is amazing when you win one, that he has now got two and we are thinking that maybe two or three or five would be realistic around that golf course.”
