The match appeared difficult for Keighley before kick-off, with a large number of first-choice players unavailable.
However, the visitors had enough experienced players to control the game, and their defence dealt with Doncaster’s early attacks.
For the opening 15 minutes, the home side used their big forwards to gain ground. Keighley defended in an organised way and stopped several attacks.
When Keighley attacked, exchanges between the forwards gave hooker Shaun Minikin possession. He drove over to score, and outside half Alex Brown converted.
Doncaster responded with a line-out in the Keighley half.
The ball was taken cleanly and driven towards the line, but the resulting maul was deliberately collapsed.
This brought a penalty try. Keighley then earned quick possession through the work of its forwards.
Prop Sam Booker took a penalty quickly and powered through defenders to score. Brown added the conversion.
Keighley kept pressing, and Doncaster were forced to defend. When the home side tried to run the ball from defence,
it lost possession at the breakdown. That gave debutant second row Cain Henderson space to break clear and score, with Brown converting.
Shortly before half-time, centre Alan Ebbrell suffered a serious leg injury and needed hospital treatment.
The match was then moved to another pitch. Scrum half Nathan Pickles finished the half with a try under the posts.
Doncaster started the second half with greater pressure from its forwards.
After pushing Keighley back, number eight Ben Sengelow scored a deserved try. Wing forward Ross Lacey then used quick ball from the pack to score.
At this stage, Keighley had a clear lead and began to play with more freedom.
That approach produced a winger’s try for Sam Blakely, followed soon by Henderson’s second try. Brown converted one of the two scores.
The visitors continued to find gaps in Doncaster’s defence. A break by midfield organiser Brown created the chance for Henry Sisley to score, and Brown added the final conversion.
The result gave Keighley a bonus-point win, but Ebbrell’s injury added to the club’s long list of absentees.
