Amad Diallo officially nominated for 2026 Player of the Year

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has earned major recognition for his talents, securing a prestigious 2026 Player of the Year nomination.

Amad Diallo officially nominated for 2026 Player of the Year

Amad Diallo has experienced a peculiar 2026, a year in which his feet have continued to dazzle, even when the goals have refused to follow.

The Manchester United winger remains one of Old Trafford’s most entertaining players, possessing exceptional close control, explosive acceleration and an extraordinary ability to glide past defenders.

His performances have not necessarily been poor, but his attacking output tells a frustrating story.

Remarkably, Amad has failed to score a single goal for Manchester United throughout 2026.

However, his international performances have demonstrated his undeniable quality.

During the continental tournament in Morocco, held between December and January, Amad scored three goals and registered an assist.

He scored against Mozambique and Cameroon before delivering another excellent performance against Burkina Faso, winning his third Man of the Match award in four games.

Ivory Coast eventually suffered a 3-2 quarter-final defeat against Egypt.

At the 2026 World Cup, Amad scored a dramatic 90th-minute winner against Ecuador before equalising against Norway in the last 32, although his country ultimately lost 2-1.

Returning to club football, his inconsistency continued.

During Tuesday’s extraordinary 3-2 Champions League victory against Roma, Amad registered 41 touches, two successful dribbles and 88% passing accuracy.

He was replaced by Shea Lacey in the 75th minute, with United trailing 2-1.

Lacey subsequently delivered a beautifully threaded pass for Matheus Cunha’s winning goal.

Nevertheless, Amad’s individual achievements have now earned him significant recognition.

Amad Diallo nominated for CAF African Player of the Year

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially confirmed on Wednesday that Amad has been shortlisted for the 2026 Men’s Player of the Year award.

The Manchester United attacker is among ten nominees, alongside reigning winner Achraf Hakimi, Sadio Mane, Antoine Semenyo, Brahim Diaz and Ismaila Sarr.

His performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup have contributed significantly to his nomination.

The winner will be announced during the CAF Awards ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, on 7 December 2026.

Despite his struggles at Old Trafford, Amad remains among the continent’s most highly regarded attacking talents.
