Ian Durrant has told Derek McInnes one change he would like to see in the Rangers eleven for the St Johnstone clash.
The Gers’ seven-game winning run was snapped over the weekend with a 2-2 draw against Dundee at Dens Park.
McInnes will be expecting a response from his players at Ibrox and would want to secure the three points against St Johnstone on Saturday.
Poll
Which Rangers player has disappointed the most this season and why?
This poll is now closed.
Durrant, perhaps surprisingly, wants Badredine Bouanani to be taken out of the Rangers eleven, despite his goal against Dundee. The Algeria international was arguably the Man of the Match at Dens Park and deserved that honour even on his debut for the club.
More importantly, he was a constant thorn in the Dundee side all game and had their defenders on the back foot as not only was he able to cut in with ease on the right wing, he was even capable of having a shot at goal. It was because of one of these shots that the Gers did open the scoring, and it’s a goal that would take some doing to recreate.
When asked about Bouanani’s inclusion on Saturday, Durrant told Five Stars VIP: “I would have Kelsy and Naderi up front, especially at home, to try and get the goals and try and get the win again. Now, we’ve got to break St Johnstone down again. They’ll be coming with a game plan.”
After a winning run comes to an end, it’s always easy to point fingers at the new player who came into the side without taking into account the performances of other players. If anything, Bouanani is one of the few players who showed why he deserves to be in the team for the next game.
Ryan Naderi had a tough game at Dens Park, and if anything, he could be the one who could make way for Kevin Kelsy. This certainly is a welcome dilemma for McInnes, but he is unlikely to remove his best player from the previous game from his starting eleven.
We tend to agree with Durrant more often than we don’t, but this time around, we just do not get his point of view.
