Mohamed Salah was once again on target as Trabzonspor beat Hearts in the Conference League

Mohamed Salah continued his remarkable recent run of form as he fired Trabzonspor to victory in the Conference League - and shoved some pre-game abuse down some supporters’ throats.

The Liverpool legend scored from the spot and set up another as he inspired Trabzonspor to a 2-0 victory over Scottish Premiership side Hearts, making it two wins out of two in the league phase for the Turkish outfit.

Salah dinked a first-half penalty down the middle before laying on an assist for Franculino Dju just before the hour mark, and despite Sidny Cabral’s sending-off in stoppage time, Trabzonspor managed to hold on for the victory.

The victory might taste all the sweeter for Salah after he was targeted for some abuse from the traveling Hearts fans ahead of the game.

A video which has been shared on social media showed supporters of the Scottish club arriving at Trabzonspor’s stadium on an open-top bus, singing: “You can shove your Mo Salah up your a---”.

The 34-year-old certainly did not wilt under the pressure, and his latest contributions continue what has been a superb run for him recently.

Salah now has 15 combined goals and assists from his last 10 games for his club, having also scored in a 2-0 win over Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday.

The Egyptian looks rejuvenated after a difficult final year at Liverpool, in which failed to reach his usual heights as he scored 12 goals and added 10 assists in 41 appearances, and brought his tenure to an end a year early after signing a two-year deal with the Reds in 2025.

Explaining how Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan convinced him to join the club, Salah said last month: "I think his ambition and also what he tried to build in the club. That's what he convinced me with.
