Lafayette Christian quarterback Ty Hills threw three touchdown passes in the Knights' road win over Delcambre on Friday.

DELCAMBRE The Lafayette Christian Academy Knights stayed perfect in district play with a 49-0 demolition of Delcambre Panthers at The Pit on Friday.

The Panthers began the night well when they found themselves in LCA territory after a Rix Robin 11-yard quarterback run.

The Knights' defense would stiffen however and force a punt that was blocked and returned to the Panthers 35-yard line. LCA would get the first score of the ballgame when senior running back Kaleb Simon scored from two yards out nearly midway through the first quarter.

Simon was the first of four Knights running backs to find the endzone. Later, on 4th-and-5, Sophomore Landon Prudhomme raced 47 yards to the end zone as the first quarter expired, giving LCA a 14-0 lead.

“Coach (Ty) Fenroy has really been putting in the work with me, helping me become more of a downhill runner,” said Prudhomme, who has had his name called more and more over the last couple of games. “It’s a mindset shift for me, changing how I ran as a freshman to now, running hard and downhill more consistently.”

Another storyline for the LCA offense was junior quarterback Ty Hills throwing three touchdown passes on the night to three different receiver - fellow junior Triston Jones and seniors Tyler Cook and Kaden Ledet.

“Pretty much everything was there,” Hills said. “It just came down to who I wanted to throw it to.”

“Lots of mouths were getting fed tonight and it starts with the big guys up front setting the pace,” LCA coach Matt Standiford said. “They dominated and allowed Ty to hit open guys and be consistent. Our athletes in space is a great thing for our offense.”

The Knights offense rolled to a 35-0 halftime lead following a 3-yard touchdown run by Kyzir White at the end of the First Half and capped off the win with a 1-yard touchdown run by Sophomore Ayden Malbrue late in the fourth quarter.

“Offensively, we are getting better,” Standiford said. “We were efficient in both the run and the pass, and our tempo played a huge role.”

Leading the way on defense for the Knights was sophomore Triston Alexander, who finished with 13 total tackles with two tackles for loss.

“Defending the Wing-T can be tricky, but I thought our game plan was sound and we executed well,” said Standiford, whose starting defense held the Panthers to near 50 yards of total offense before giving way to the backups going into the fourth quarter.

Next, the Knights travel to Catholic High of New Iberia as they look to not only win the outright District 8-2A crown but also solidify a probable Top 2 seed going into the Division III Select Playoffs.

“We’ve had a lot of bumps throughout the year,” said Hills. “It would mean a lot to beat Catholic of New Iberia next week going into the playoffs. Then, having that bye would be really good for us as we’ll have a chip on our shoulders heading into the playoffs.”

“We are progressing at the right time,” Standiford said.
