Back in July it was confirmed that Sheamus would be departing WWE at the end of his contract, bringing an end to his near two decade run in the company.
With his contract officially coming up on October 1, Sheamus is now finally free to move elsewhere and begin a new chapter of his career outside of WWE’s walls.
Adding to the excitement surrounding this, Sheamus has taken to social media to share some pictures of himself working out, and it’s safe to say “The Celtic Warrior” is looking to be in the best shape we’ve ever seen him in at the age of 48 (see below).

With Sheamus clearly putting the work in inside the gym, hopefully it won’t be too long before we see him putting on “bangers” inside the squared-circle.
Here are two potential next steps for Sheamus’ career following his WWE exit:
The option at the very top of most fans’ wish lists has to be seeing Sheamus reunite with his former WWE tag team partner Claudio Castagnoli in AEW.
Sheamus and Castagnoli made up one of the best WWE teams of the modern era as The Bar, winning five tag team championships between 2016 and 2019.
Following the additions of The New Level and Motor City Machine Guns, the AEW tag team division is in perhaps its strongest ever position, and the possibility of Sheamus and Castagnoli adding to that is certainly exciting.
Sheamus would also make for a perfect addition to Jon Moxley’s Death Riders faction in general, as he is very much of the same ilk as the other hard-hitters in the group such as Moxley, Marina Shafir and Gabe Kidd.
There is reportedly interest on AEW’s side in signing Sheamus and, according to a new update from Fightful Select, talent such as Castagnoli and Adam Copeland are said to want the company to bring him in. AEW itself is said to not have “huge urgency” to sign Sheamus however, so this one may be come later rather than sooner.
Aside from AEW, TNA Wrestling appears to be the next most logical destination for Sheamus, and there has already reportedly been interest from TNA in having the Irish star debut.
According to Fightful Select, TNA reached out to Sheamus about potentially working Bound for Glory as Moose’s mystery opponent, but nothing came of it.
Being a former four-time world champion in WWE, Sheamus would likely command a higher fee than other ex-WWE stars, but he would certainly be a massive get for TNA if they did manage to bring him in, even for a short-term deal.
Given his star power, Sheamus would have to be an immediate main event force in TNA if he did join the promotion; making the new TNA World Champion Leon Slater a prime target.
Slater is set to defend his championship against Trey Miguel at TNA Destination X on November 15. Providing “The Youngest in Charge” can get through this first challenge, he could potentially have a jacked “Celtic Warrior” waiting for him on the other side.
