Gordon Ramsay cosies up to his wife Tana as they enjoy a couples' weekend in Mexico City for the Formula One Grand Prix

Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana enjoyed a couples' weekend away together to Mexico, as they were pictured ahead of the latest race in the Formula One calendar on Sunday.

The couple put on a cosy display as they strolled through the paddock hand-in-hand in Mexico City.

Gordon, 59, is a longtime F1 fan, and he and Tana previously brought their children to watch the US Grand Prix in Austin last month.

He and Tana, 52, were seen during the qualifying session on Saturday, and then walked through the paddock ahead of the race itself the next day.

Gordon and Tana are parents to Megan, 28, Holly and Jack, both 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, seven, and Jesse, two.

Despite Lewis Hamilton's fine display which secured him his first pole position since 2023, Kimi Antonelli remains favourite to claim the world title aged 20. The Mercedes man will start fourth, behind Hamilton, George Russell and Charles Leclerc.

Kimi needs to finish ninth in the Mexican Grand Prix to be assured of the crown with four races to spare.

Lewis' 105th pole, meanwhile, made him the oldest driver to achieve the feat since Mario Andretti, aged 42, in 1982.

There were also strange happenings at Haas before a wheel was turned in qualifying. Esteban Ocon was dropped for the weekend at least – or perhaps for ever, having not had his contract extended into next season with the American team.

Nobody at Haas would elaborate as to why the Frenchman had been axed, though he had a tense radio exchange with his race engineer Laura Mueller in second practice on Friday.

There is clearly some friction at play. Esteban's place was taken by Ryo Hirokawa, a 32-year-old Japanese driver, who qualified 19th.

'I can't tell you much but I can tell you he's not ill,' said Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu of Ocon's exclusion. 'The only thing I can say is we are focused on what's in front of us.'

Fernando Alonso broke down in the stadium section of the circuit in Q1, bringing about a red flag. The Spaniard waved his hands in frustration because, for once, he had looked to have a chance of a decent result for Aston Martin. A water pressure problem was blamed.

A bad afternoon for McLaren's Oscar Piastri, falling out in Q2 and qualifying a lowly 13th, nearly a second behind world champion Lando Norris at that stage. Norris ended up sixth best.

After a challenging debut season with Ferrari last year, this campaign has gone far better for Lewis – including a maiden win for the Scuderia in Barcelona in June.

Hamilton believes he has proven that he can still compete at the highest level.

'Time will tell whether I'm here in the 2030s. I never want to overstay my welcome in the sense of not having the performance,' he added.

'I don't want to be driving around with that having really dropped off.

'Everyone assumed that last year and I have proved everyone wrong. I'll continue to try to do so.'
